Bulgaria

Bulgaria is situated in East part of Europe and the North part of the Balkans and represents a strategic geographic location - at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
It is known for its picturesque nature with various landscape. The scenery changes subsequently. The outstanding natural resources - the mountains Rila, Pirin, Rodopi, Strandja, Vitosha and Stara Planina, rich with their venerable forests and rivers, vast lowlands and plains together with large beaches and beautiful rocky shores, create excellent conditions for a summer and winter tourism.

Black Sea

The entire east frontier (378 km.) has been washed by the waters of the Black Sea. The marine-tourism is very well developed through its hundreds of hotel complexes, in which every year rest millions of holidaymakers from all over the world. The Black Sea coast holds kilometers long beautiful, sandy beaches, with fine, golden sands and sand dunes, mineral springs, resorts, vacation villages and camping sites. The sea is clean and calm, and the sea bed has a small heeling.

Northern Black Sea Coast

The most northern point of this region is Bulgarian-Romanian border and the most southern - the town of Obzor. The Black Sea coastal strip is exclusively picturesque, with numerous extensive beaches, covered with fine golden sand, with gradually deepening seashore, transparent and clear coastal waters, plenty of sunshine and clear air, magnificent forested shores, convenient roads, curative mineral springs, numerous vegetable and fruit gardens, trendy hotels and holiday inns. The region has a rich historic past and significant cultural-historic inheritance, including unique memorials of culture and several medieval fortresses (most important of them is Kaliakra cape, included in the list of UNESCO's world historic and cultural heritage). All these features make the Northern Black Sea coast an attractive place both for Bulgarian and foreign holiday-makers.

In the Northern Black Sea region are built many sea resorts. Even the most pretentious clients will be charmed by the splendid resorts of the Northern Black Sea coast - Golden Sands, Albena, Riviera, Rusalka, Sunny Day, St. Konstantin and Elena. Here you can practice surfing, water-skiing, diving, underwater fishing and underwater archeology and many other water sports.

Sea resorts

Administrative center of the region is the town of Varna - the largest Bulgarian Black Sea port. This is the so called "Black Sea capital" of the country. The city is an important communication and industrial center with road, rail, sea and air transport links to many national and international destinations. The geographic location and the existing infrastructure have defined the favorable development of the city for centuries. The well-organized water and cargo transport have defined the image of the city as an intersection between the East and the West. The fast rate of city development attracts large investment and contractor projects - mainly in construction of big trade and business centers, malls, administrative and residential complexes. One of the highest prices of real estates is in Trakata area - a former villa zone, situated between Breeze quarter and the main road to Golden Sands resort. High qualitive construction and constantly growing prices of the properties. Trakata is part of Vinitsa suburb - a region built up mainly with houses. According to a survey between Bulgarian residents, Varna is the most preferable city for living in the country. The sea, the proximity to the other sea resorts, good communications and well developed infrastructure turn the "Black Sea capital" into a most desirable and wished for place for living and doing business.

Only 8 km. away from the town of Varna is Evksinograd palace - a former late 19th-century Bulgarian royal summer palace of a prince Alexander Batenberg I. It is currently a governmental and presidential residence. The region around the palace, bearing the same name, is very prestigious and is built mainly with new and luxury housing complexes, summer houses, hotels, and restaurants.

The lovely Euxinograde Park is surrounded by spectacular vineyards. An interesting destination is the Evksinograd wine-cellar. The connoisseurs of wine beverages often come to this place, attracted from the local production - a famous world known wine elixir.

19 km. north-east from the city of Varna is Golden sands - the pearl of Northern Black Sea Coast. A cosmopolitan resort with a wonderful landscaped park and wide beaches. Stunning scenery, luscious forest, a clean sea, sun and mineral springs. Golden Sands is the better choice of an exotic holiday, a treatment and sport activities, but as well the perfect place for a business and congress tourism, a cultural tourism, or an investment. The nightlife of Golden Sands is like nowhere else - with nightfall an endless fiesta of light, sound and night entertainment begins. Variety shows amid exotic atmosphere, splendid cuisine and exquisite drinks - gradually you join in the party under the stars. If you feel like dancing, modern nightclubs along the beach will be the place for you. Another entertainment is "Aquapolis" - the best aqua park in Eastern Europe. The first of that kind in Bulgaria, established in a unique Mauritian Mediterranean style. It is located in the northwestern section of Golden Sands tourist resort, on the main road from "Riviera" tourist resort to "Albena" tourist resort. The water park is situated in the forest, sporting a unique sea-view and the whole tourist resort.

Albena is one of the most beautiful sea resorts on the Bulgarian seaside, situated only 30 km. away from Bulgaria's sea capital Varna. The complex lies beneath a relatively high hill and is given particular charm by the nearby forest of "Baltata", a part of which is declared a protected area. Albena is the place where the sea meets the sand. The resort is a delight to people of all ages, preferred mainly for family vacations. With the sand lines, and the crystal sea, the resort offers a pleasure to every taste. The resort is remarkable for its 6-km long beach and preserved green areas. Albena has more than 15 000 beds in 43 hotels, situated at the very beach or at the picturesque hills with exciting views of the sea. Over 90 % of the tourists are foreigners.

Kranevo is a resort village on the Northern Black Sea Coast, between Golden Sands and Albena, with nice beaches and a variety of restaurants and small family hotels.

Kavarna is 30 min. drive from the busy international resorts of Golden Sands and Albena. A little yacht port, a fishing base, a spacious beach and a resort complex exist in the town. Remains of stronghold walls, moats, buildings, churches and necropolises can be found on the flat plateau. The region is rich in mineral waters. The area around the town offers opportunities for developing ecotourism.
Since 2004 the town has turned in one of the centres of musical life in Bulgaria. Kavarna has been the host to many rock and roll concerts.
In the last few years Kavarna achieved a rapid progress as an economical and cultural centre, turning into a destination of great investment interest.
Three 18-hole golf courses with villa communities and marinas are being developed nearby, two of the courses are designed by Gary Player and one by Ian Woosnam.

The landmark Cape Kaliakra is located a few kilometers to the east. It is the most beautiful and the strangest place in the Bulgarian northern Black Sea. The narrow rocky peninsula is cutting 2 km. into the sea as a wedge and this promontory ends with 70 m. high vertical rocks. Many legends are related to the cape's name - Kaliakra means "a beautiful cape". It has been renamed several times during the centuries. Today the region is a beautiful natural reserve where cormorants nest and starlings and blackbirds live in the caves. Dolphins in the sea are really interesting because they are some of the rare representatives of the Bulgarian Black sea fauna.

Lying among the coolness of an age-old forest, the resort of Russalka appears to be one of the most beautiful north Bulgarian resorts. The coast is dented by some picturesque bays, bordered by rocks and greenary. There is a small lake near the shore. In the greens near the village is situated the "Yailata reserve".

Balchik is a small resort, 17 km. away from Kavarna, attractive to tourists with its ancient atmosphere that has been preserved for centuries. It is situated terrace-like on a small bay on the Black Sea. A great place of interest is is the queen's palace /built in 1924 by Romanian queen Maria/ with the botanical garden. This is the biggest botanical garden in the Balkan and the second in the world. The garden features seldom plants - there are more than 3000 rare and exotic species of plants.  Balchik is a wonderful combination of history and modern vacation sites.
